The path that eventually led Lance T. Leonard to write this book wasn’t something he planned.

After graduating from Washington State University, he spent several years working in recreation programs that focused on youth activities and community events. Those early years involved long hours organizing programs, working with families, and trying to create opportunities for young people to stay active and engaged.

Eventually, he entered the insurance business. The work was very different, but it allowed him to build a stable career. Over time he started his own agency and spent more than three decades helping clients protect their homes, businesses, and financial plans.

Outside the office, most of his time was devoted to family life.

For many years, he believed that the future would continue along the same path. Marriage, children, work, and the responsibilities that came with them. When the marriage ended, however, everything changed.

Health problems began to appear. Work slowed down. And for the first time in many years, Lance found himself spending long stretches of time alone.

One of those periods was spent living on a remote ranch in Oregon. Surrounded by quiet and distance from his old routines, he began reflecting on faith, forgiveness, and the events that had shaped his life.

That reflection eventually became this book.
